Vernier Gauges from Cooksongold
Wire and sheet is often measured in gauges. The gauge measuring system correlates to metal thickness which means the higher the gauge, the thinner the metal.
Vernier jewellery gauges have been used for generations in many industries. They give a direct reading to a high degree of accuracy. All are relatively identical, with various ways of reading the results. Also known as callipers, Vernier gauges have a fixed jaw with a flexible jaw. This flexible jaw slides across the scale to obtain the readings of the internal and external dimensions, as well as the depth in many cases.
Many Vernier gauges have slender probes and can get into deep grooves that may prove difficult for other tools. These jewellery gauges include both metric and imperial measurements.
